Bio
About me:
I make movies and try to show them everywhere.
I force my grandmother to eat vegetables and exercise.
I chair the board of directors of Canada's oldest film production co-operative & teach a little bit there.
My cat and I both have green eyes that are proportionately too large for our respective heads.
In the last week, I've broken 2 different pairs of knitting needles.
I abide by this Speed Levitch quote: Creativity I think of as the pursuit for the original exuberance that we all came into this world with, the exuberance that we all had until it was taken off to an abandoned dock somewhere and shot in a gangster assassination by the outside world. With that said, I've always thought of myself as a Renaissance man, and I'm pouncing with avarice on all opportunities and doing my best to experience complete self-expression and pursue the fullest applications of self. Yeah!

Here's an official + extremely cheerful bio:
Heather Harkins is an animator based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her earliest films, "Love to Go" (2000) and "The 8 Husbands of Zsa Zsa Gabor" (2001) were mentored by brilliant director Helen Hill. "...Zsa Zsa..." was embraced by feminist audiences, and garnered Heather an invitation to speak at Ladyfest Los Angeles. Soon after, she wintered in Montreal, creating "Don't Blink" (2003) for the English Animation Studio of the National Film Board of Canada. Her attendance at its South American premiere in Rio de Janeiro inspired "Behold!" (2004), a 16mm film that briefly toured North America on the Movies With Live Soundtracks bill. Heather joined the tour carrying only a small bag that held a 16mm film reel, her ukulele, and a few clothes including a polka dot dress for the shows. In June of 2005, she blissfully participated in the Gibraltar Point International Artist Residency program hosted by Toronto Artscape. Currently, Heather teaches animation to adults and youth, curates short film programs for different venues, takes her grandmother on long walks, and works on her next film.
